Ralph Conte, a centenarian and World War II veteran from South Carolina, has embraced his passion for photography. He served in the United States Army during the war, serving in nine different countries and receiving a Purple Heart medal. Despite his heroic actions, Conte does not see himself as a hero. After being honorably discharged in 1948, he began his photography career, eventually opening his own photography business in New Jersey. Even at 103, Conte continues to take photos and remains tech-savvy, using social media and editing his own pictures.

Conte’s granddaughter, Jessica Graf, recalled a time when she reached out to him for advice on her photography. Conte’s response about her device being outdated showcased his eye for detail and his continued passion for capturing moments. Graf noted that Conte remains active on social media and continues to edit and sell his freelance pictures. Along with his photography pursuits, Conte also has a strong faith in God and consistently prays daily. His late wife, Veronica Sarubbi, was described as the love of his life, and the couple had a large family. Their Catholic values have played a significant role in their descendants’ upbringing.

Despite his age, Conte remains active and engaged in his photography hobby, capturing the beauty of the Carolinas. Graf is inspired by her grandfather’s resilience, ability to live in the moment, and faith in God. Conte’s love for photography has been a lifelong passion, with his eye for detail and love for capturing moments on film shining through. His photography business and subsequent freelance work were successful, earning him awards and recognition in the field. Even in retirement, Conte continues to pursue his creativity and passion for photography.
