The graduating class of 2024 at Norwin High School in Irwin, Pennsylvania, includes a unique phenomenon – 11 sets of twins. This is the highest number of twins the school has seen in recent years, with twins making up 5% of the graduating class. Nationwide, twins occur in just around 3% of all births, making this high school class an anomaly. The school’s principal, Dr. Michael Choby, noted that the twins have been together all four years of high school, forming a close bond with one another.

One student, Gianna DiPerna, shared that she realized the high number of twins in her class during her sophomore year when she had five sets of twins in her gym class. This realization brought comfort to Gianna, knowing that there were others who shared the same sibling experience. Some of the sets of twins have been in school together since grade school, forming a close bond and support system for each other. This shared experience has created a sense of camaraderie and understanding among the twins in the class.

The twins in Norwin High’s senior class include both fraternal and identical twins who contribute in various aspects of school life. Some twins are involved in the school’s orchestra, while others participate in challenging Advanced Placement courses or theater. Choby noted that there are two sets of twins who are particularly hard to tell apart, adding a fun challenge for teachers and administrators. The twins represent a diverse range of talents and skills within the student body, showcasing the unique abilities of Norwin High School students.

Despite their similarities as twins, each set of twins in the graduating class of 2024 has their own individual paths and plans for the future. While some twins plan to attend the same college and continue their close bond, others are looking to pursue different opportunities and attend separate colleges. This diversity among the twins highlights their unique personalities and aspirations. The bond between twins is special and provides a lifelong connection that few siblings get to experience.

As the 11 sets of twins prepare to graduate together, they will have one last chance to share a milestone moment as they walk across the stage at Norwin High’s graduation ceremony. The twins expressed excitement and amazement at the fact that so many of them are graduating together, acknowledging the rarity of their shared experience. This unique class of twins has formed a close-knit community within their high school, supporting each other through the ups and downs of adolescence. The graduation ceremony will serve as a final opportunity for the twins to celebrate their achievements together before embarking on their individual paths beyond high school.
