Tesla has announced a voluntary recall of 3,878 Cybertrucks to address a “stuck pedal” issue that was highlighted in a viral TikTok video shared by owner Jose Martinez. The problem stems from a pad on top of the accelerator pedal becoming loose and getting stuck in the interior trim, leading to unintended acceleration. Tesla will replace or repair the accelerator pedal assembly for affected owners at no cost. The issue was identified due to an unapproved change involving lubricant (soap) being used during the assembly of the pad, causing a reduction in retention.

The electric vehicle manufacturer first became aware of the problem on March 31, 2024, and subsequently decided to issue the voluntary recall on April 12. Since the launch of the Cybertruck in November 2023, less than 4,000 units have been delivered.
