As a former Disney World employee with experience working at merchandise locations and attractions across the property, I have had the opportunity to answer many questions from guests over the years. Disney is constantly changing and expanding, with major investments in global theme parks and cruise lines underway. Here are some answers to common questions that guests may be too scared or embarrassed to ask.

One common question guests may have is about visiting Universal Studios. While some may feel hesitant to ask about Disney’s “competition,” it is perfectly acceptable to seek advice on the best way to get there. Many Disney employees, including some who work for both companies, frequently visit Universal Studios and can provide recommendations. As a fan of “Harry Potter,” I enjoy talking about these parks as much as Disney.

Guests often ask if a ride is worth the wait. Having worked at Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in Epcot, I understand the popularity of new attractions and the long wait times that come with them. While I always strive to give honest opinions, my advice would be to prioritize other activities and rides if the wait time exceeds an hour, unless someone in the group is a superfan.

Another common question pertains to the difference between Genie+ and Lightning Lane, the new paid service at Disney World. This can be confusing for guests, but park employees are there to help navigate through the process and assist in making reservations. Lightning Lanes are expedited lines for rides, and understanding how they work can enhance your park experience.

Guests often wonder how to obtain special celebration buttons. These buttons are available for various occasions like birthdays, first visits, anniversaries, or family reunions. They are free and can be obtained at merchandise locations, hotel front desks, and guest services. Wearing these buttons can lead to fun interactions with workers, characters, and fellow guests throughout your trip.

While some may question whether adults can take pictures with characters, it is certainly allowed and encouraged at Disney World. Walt Disney created the parks for people of all ages to enjoy, and interacting with characters can be a memorable experience. While certain attractions are geared towards younger audiences, adults participating in character meet and greets is a common sight.

For guests who may not enjoy roller coasters or thrill rides, Disney World offers a variety of milder attractions, shows, and experiences that cater to all preferences. From parades and character meet and greets to nighttime spectaculars like “Happily Ever After,” there is something for everyone to enjoy. If you happen to lose something during your visit, employees are trained to collect lost items and can help you locate them through guest relations. Don’t hesitate to ask for recommendations from employees, as they can provide valuable tips on activities, restaurants, and must-see attractions in the park.
