Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., was involved in a car crash on Interstate 70 in Maryland on Sunday night, reportedly driving at a high rate of speed before rear-ending another vehicle. This behavior is not new for Fetterman, as he has been cited for speeding in the past. The crash occurred as Fetterman and his wife were celebrating their 16th wedding anniversary. Both vehicles were towed from the scene, and Fetterman, his wife, and the other driver involved in the crash were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Earlier this year, Fetterman pleaded guilty to a citation for driving 34 mph above the speed limit in Pennsylvania. He had also received a speeding ticket in 2016 for driving at least 24 mph above the speed limit. Following the recent citation, Fetterman was ordered to complete a driver’s improvement course. There were also reports that Fetterman had been distracted while driving, using FaceTime and texting behind the wheel, which raised concerns among his staff. Some of his aides claimed they refrain from messaging Fetterman while he is driving due to his alleged history of answering texts while driving.

Fetterman’s office did not respond to requests for comment on the matter. A spokesperson for the senator dismissed the accounts of his driving behavior as “gossip and inaccurate.” Despite these incidents, Fetterman was awarded the highest award from a top Jewish college for his stance on Israel. The recent car crash is just the latest example of unsafe driving behavior exhibited by Fetterman, which has resulted in multiple speeding citations in the past.

The crash in Maryland on Sunday was determined to be Fetterman’s fault, as he was driving the vehicle that rear-ended another car. Fetterman released a video with his wife thanking everyone for their well-wishes following the crash. In the video, they described the accident as the worst anniversary celebration they have had, holding a bag of frozen peas and Tylenol as they shared their gratitude with supporters. The crash resulted in minor injuries for Fetterman, his wife, and the other driver involved.

The allegations of Fetterman’s distracted driving behavior have raised concerns among his staff members. Some have claimed that they avoid contacting Fetterman while he is driving due to his alleged habit of answering texts while behind the wheel. Despite these reports, a spokesperson for Fetterman denied the allegations as inaccurate. The senator has faced multiple citations for speeding in the past, leading to the completion of a driver’s improvement course. The recent crash serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving practices, regardless of one’s position or status.
