Yemeni political sources confirmed that the prisoner exchange process scheduled for next April 11, according to the outcomes of the recent Geneva negotiations between the Yemeni government delegation and the Houthi militia delegation under the auspices of the United Nations, will have a significant impact on the course of international efforts aimed at establishing peace in Yemen.

The sources stated that the prisoner exchange process is one of the outcomes of the consultations in the Sultanate of Oman between the Yemeni parties within the framework of the humanitarian file, which is a starting point for the implementation of the rest of the items that were agreed upon in Muscat, which constitute a starting point and a basis for starting a broad political process.

The sources indicated that a number of measures will be implemented on the ground by the Yemeni parties, during the coming days, as the outputs of the Muscat consultations, and a natural product of the international and international efforts and the Omani mediation, which took place during the past months.

Negotiations regarding the Yemeni prisoners were held in Geneva this month, and reached an agreement between the delegation of the Yemeni government and the delegation of the Houthi militia, to release 181 prisoners from the government side, including Saudis and Sudanese, in exchange for the release of 706 Houthi prisoners.

On the ground, field sources in Ma’rib governorate confirmed that the Houthi militia is seeking to launch a massive attack on the liberated areas in the governorate from the governorates of Al-Jawf and Al-Bayda, and that the maneuvers that the militias conducted in these two governorates during the past two days come within the framework of these Houthi terrorist endeavors.
