The US military announced the killing of six members of the terrorist Al-Shabaab militia in an air strike in Somalia.
And the command center responsible for Africa announced in a statement that the attack took place today, Friday, in the small town of Awdal, about 250 km north of the capital, Mogadishu, in the Middle Shabelle region.
And the Somali government announced yesterday, Thursday, that this region has been completely liberated from the Al-Shabaab militia.
It is noteworthy that the US military frequently launches attacks on Al-Shabaab targets in Somalia in agreement with the government – mostly with drones.
The government has launched a military offensive against the youth movement for several months. Extremists control large parts of central Somalia as well as the south of the country.
With the support of armed clans and civilians, the army has recently managed to make significant territorial gains at the expense of Al-Shabaab.
