Recording 8 earthquakes in Syria within 24 hours

Today, the National Seismological Center in Syria announced that it had recorded eight earthquakes, ranging between 1.7 and 4.1 on the Richter scale, during the past 24 hours.

The center stated, in a press statement reported by the Syrian Arab News Agency “SANA”, that the stations of the National Seismic Monitoring Network recorded this morning a weak earthquake of 2.8 degrees that struck 100 km northeast of Raqqa, at a depth of 6.2 km.

The center added that seven other earthquakes were also monitored during the past 24 hours, ranging from weak to moderate, which are “an earthquake north of Hama with a magnitude of 11 km with a magnitude of 2.2, and two tremors in the sea, one of them north of Latakia with a magnitude of 63 km with a magnitude of 2.6, and the second northwest of Latakia with a magnitude of 47.” km, measuring 1.7 degrees, and four tremors in Turkey ranging between 2.7 and 4.1 degrees.

The center added that all the tremors had different depths, reaching 39.7 km.
