The head of the central administration of the port of Nuweiba in Egypt, Yasser Al-Assi, revealed that the land pilgrimage will return again this year to Egypt, after stopping it 25 years since the catastrophic peace ferry accident.
He explained that this year, the first Hajj trip was allowed after 25 years since the famous Peace Ferry incident that sank in 1998, and the first trip will be June 12, with 4,000 pilgrims.
The “Peace 98” ferry, owned by businessman Mamdouh Ismail, carrying 1,200 passengers, mostly Egyptian workers working in the Gulf, sank, killing 1,000 people.
