Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed “Saturday” that the situation on the front lines in the east of the country is getting more difficult and that Russia is sending more troops to the battlefield.

Russian forces are making slow progress in the Donbass region, encircling the city of Bakhmut, north of Donetsk, and fighting for control of a nearby road that serves as a major supply route for Ukrainian forces. The forces are also trying to take control of Voledar, southwest of Donetsk.

Zelensky said in a video speech, “I often had to say that the situation on the front is difficult, and it is getting more difficult, and it is time to ‘say it’ again.. Ghazi sends more of his forces to break our defenses.”

He added, “The situation is very difficult now in Bakhmut, Fulidar, Liman, and other directions.”

Earlier, “Saturday”, Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hana Malyar wrote via the Telegram application that Russian efforts to break the defenses in Bakhmut and Liman had failed.

Last October, Ukrainian forces regained control of the city of Liman, just north of Bakhmut.
