UAE affirms its solidarity with Pakistan in the face of floods

The UAE affirmed its solidarity with Pakistan in the face of floods, stressing the importance of providing humanitarian aid to the country, and the need to strengthen international efforts and practical solutions to address climate-caused disasters.

This came during the state’s statement at the United Nations General Assembly meeting today, in support of Pakistan, as follows: “Mr. President, at the outset, the government and people of the UAE extend their deepest condolences and sincere condolences to the government and people of the friendly Republic of Pakistan for the victims of the floods and torrents that left hundreds dead. And tens of thousands of displaced people, in addition to the massive destruction of infrastructure after water submerged a third of the country’s area.

In light of these difficult conditions resulting from climate change, the UAE stresses the importance of providing humanitarian aid to Pakistan, within the principles of humanity, neutrality and independence, so that we can provide relief to all those affected and afflicted. In turn, my country sent urgent aid to the displaced from the areas that witnessed the recent torrential rains, as this aid included thousands of tons of food supplies, medical and pharmaceutical supplies, and tents to shelter the affected, while the UAE relief teams provide all kinds of support to Pakistani cadres and institutions concerned with securing Victims’ safety and needs.

Mr. President, The disasters we are witnessing today as a result of climate change, emphasize the need to intensify international efforts to reduce the repercussions of this phenomenon, and to support countries most vulnerable to its risks, including by devising practical and thoughtful solutions to the climate crisis. As part of our commitment to support climate action, we look forward to actively participating in the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will be hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt next month. climate, especially as we prepare to host the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties.

In conclusion, the UAE affirms its full solidarity with the government and people of the Republic of Pakistan, during these conditions, and we will continue to provide relief, humanitarian and development assistance and work to unify efforts and mobilize support for the affected people in Pakistan, until their current plight ends, and life returns to normal in the affected areas..
