DEWA is keen to enhance its leading position in the world in the field of social responsibility, and the promotion of environmental, social and economic sustainability. The authority embodies the civilized and humane approach that characterizes the authentic UAE society, which is based on the solidarity and solidarity of all its individuals and institutions, and is closely linked to the highest meanings of benevolence and benevolence.
During the year 2022, the authority continued its unremitting efforts in serving the community according to a methodology of integrated institutional work and within the framework of its institutional values represented in: stakeholders’ happiness, sustainability, innovation, excellence, and good governance. Between 2013 and 2022, the Authority launched more than 380 community initiatives, through which the Authority’s employees recorded 206,560 volunteer hours in humanitarian and community initiatives, benefiting 50,458,396 people in the United Arab Emirates and abroad. In 2022, the percentage of community happiness on the authority reached 93.02%.
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, said: “We seek to be one of the largest contributors to supporting the integrated and sustainable system of volunteer work in the United Arab Emirates and the Emirate of Dubai, and to support the humanitarian and voluntary work process that the late God established. Providing retail stores within the sustainable Hatta Waterfalls project of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority to the citizens of the Hatta region for free
In implementation of the generosity of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, may God protect him, to the citizens of Hatta to create additional job opportunities and meet the needs of social, economic and environmental development, DEWA provided retail stores that include cafes, restaurants, and children’s playgrounds, in addition to shops selling honey and local products. Free souvenirs within the sustainable Hatta Waterfalls project for citizens of the Hatta region. And in implementation of the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, may God protect him, the Authority has awarded the sustainable Hatta Waterfalls project, at a cost of about 46 million dirhams, as part of its social and investment responsibility to make this project a distinctive tourist destination.
Awards and honors
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum honored with the golden fingerprint His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, in recognition of his efforts in achieving excellence and promoting scientific knowledge and sustainability. The authority also ranked first in the government institutions category of the Arab Award for Corporate Social Responsibility 2022, for the eighth time in a row. The Authority also received an honorary shield during the Partners Forum ceremony organized by the Community Development Authority to celebrate its strategic partners whose partnerships, cooperation and support had the greatest impact on the excellence and success of its initiatives.
Participate in the “Iftar” campaign
On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, and in cooperation with the Al Ihsan Charitable Association in Ajman, DEWA provided its sponsorship for the tenth session of the “Iftar” campaign, one of the initiatives of the Ramadan Aman campaign. Limited persons and people of determination sponsored by the association, using their own vehicles, with the application of precautionary measures to limit the spread of the (Covid-19) pandemic.
Organizing a visit to the family’s village for orphans
DEWA, in cooperation with the Community Development Authority in Dubai, organized Ramadan activities for members of the “Family Village for Orphans”, which included a Ramadan Suhour with the participation of orphans, supervisors and volunteers, distribution of shopping vouchers, and awareness workshops on the importance of adopting a sustainable lifestyle.
Awareness workshops for people of determination
The authority organized an interactive workshop to raise the level of awareness of members of the Dubai Club for People of Determination on ways to enhance energy and water consumption efficiency and reduce waste, in order to preserve natural resources. The authority also organized, in cooperation with the center, an interactive workshop at Expo 2020 Dubai, with the aim of developing the talents and passion of the center’s students and the children of determination of the authority’s employees with creativity, innovation and the arts, and unleashing their energies and creativity, by drawing their own paintings.

177 volunteers from the Authority’s employees spent a total of 46,560 volunteer hours at Expo 2020 Dubai, and a number of them were honored with the “Golden Heart” award from the Expo 2020 Dubai management in appreciation of their efforts during the World Expo.
Charity Fund
The Authority launched the Social Charity Fund in October 2009, which is an exclusive social solidarity program for the Authority’s employees. It aims to provide financial support to the participating employees in the event that one of them is exposed to an emergency or financial hardship that falls within the approved entitlements. During the year 2022, 5,072 employees benefited from the fund.
