Russian President Vladimir Putin assured Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko today, Friday, at a meeting in Sochi that Russia will start deploying tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus after the facilities are ready between July 7 and 8.
“Everything is going according to plan, everything is stable,” a Kremlin statement quoted Putin as saying.
The two presidents agreed earlier on the plan to deploy short-range nuclear missiles on the territory of Belarus, a close ally of Moscow, provided that the missiles remain under Russian command.
