Today, US Vice President Kamala Harris begins an African tour aimed at promoting Washington’s vision, which considers the brown continent to be “the future of the world.” The tour comes within the framework of the continuous US efforts to strengthen its presence on the continent, and to confront the escalation of Chinese influence.

Harris’ tour includes three African countries: Ghana, Tanzania and Zambia. Harris’ visit comes days after US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s visit to Ethiopia and Niger, and a continuation of a series of US visits and initiatives to strengthen America’s presence on the continent, restore its position, and redraw relations with African countries, after years of apathy under the administration of former US President Donald Trump. Trump.

Michael Patrick Mulroy, who previously held the position of former US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, told Asharq Al-Awsat that, “During the visit, Harris will focus on economic relations, in addition to security partnerships.”
