He warned the Israelis of the consequences of the agreement with the extreme right
Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz launched a scathing attack on the commitments made by Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu to his allies on the extreme right, including handing them broad powers in the West Bank, and expected a comprehensive collapse of the security situation in the West Bank and the possibility that it would extend to the Gaza Strip.
In interviews with local media, Gantz warned the Israelis of the “consequences of the coalition agreements” in which Netanyahu hands his settler allies the reins of Israeli affairs in the West Bank, especially the civil administration and the expansion of settlement construction. And irresponsible behavior may open the door to hell for the Israelis and the Palestinians.
He believed that the presence of the head of the “Religious Zionism” party, Bezalel Smotrich, in the Ministry of Defense makes the situation flammable, and said: “I think he will enter there with a barbaric foot, and Netanyahu believes that he will be able to control matters, but I think he is wrong.”
Gantz continued, “Netanyahu’s approval of the extreme right’s requests is linked to his need for him to enact laws and take the necessary measures until he reaches a judicial settlement that stops his (Netanyahu’s) trial and prevents his imprisonment on serious corruption charges.” Gantz was asked why he did not participate in his government, Netanyahu, and he replied, “This is an extremist government, and I am not ready to be a part of it, just as Netanyahu will not want this matter, because I will be an obstacle to the legal amendments that he wants to accomplish.”
