The bodies of two missing Kansas moms, Jilian Kelley and Veronica Butler, were discovered in rural Texas County, Oklahoma. The Office of the Oklahoma Chief Medical Examiner positively identified the deceased individuals. The two women were last seen on March 30 heading to pick up children before their car was found abandoned near the Oklahoma-Kansas border, with foul play suspected. Four suspects, Tad Bert Cullum, Tifany Machel Adams, Cole Earl Twombly, and Cora Twombly, were taken into custody and charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping, and one count of conspiracy to commit murder.

Adams, one of the individuals arrested, is believed to be the grandmother of Veronica Butler’s children. Court records revealed that Adams was involved in a custody dispute with Butler, and the children’s father is currently in a rehabilitation facility. The custody battle involving Butler began in February 2019 with numerous hearings and court appearances. Leading up to her death, motions were filed requesting extended visitation for Butler. Records showed that Butler was allowed supervised visits with her children, and Kelley was the court-ordered supervisor accompanying Butler to pick up the children on the morning of March 30.

All four suspects were booked into the Texas County Jail on charges related to the murder and kidnapping of Kelley and Butler. The investigation is ongoing, and the medical examiner will determine the manner of death of the two women. The community, along with the loved ones of the victims, are mourning the loss of Kelley and Butler.
