This came during the second meeting of the Supreme Committee for Future Technology and Digital Economy, during which the developments of the digital economy in the UAE and the challenges and promising digital opportunities were discussed, in order to make them available and adopted in Dubai, as part of the efforts to implement the axes and objectives of the Dubai Metaverse Strategy, and in line with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Development Corporation. One of the institutions of the Department of Economy and Tourism and the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to double the size of Dubai’s economy over the next ten years and enhance its position among the top 3 economic cities in the world.
His Highness said that Dubai is seeking, through enhancing future foresight processes, formulating proactive plans and employing modern technology, to accelerate the wheel of digital growth, and adopt the latest technological technologies by achieving integration and coordinating efforts between various government agencies, international companies and the private sector to bring Dubai to the ranks of the 10 leading digital economies. The meeting was attended by members of the Higher Committee for Future Technology and the Digital Economy; His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, Vice Chairman of the Committee, His Excellency Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General of the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai, His Excellency Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri, Director General of the Dubai Digital Authority, and His Excellency Khalfan Juma Belhoul, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation, His Excellency Ahmed Bin Byat, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, His Excellency Malik Al Malek, Director General of the Dubai Development Authority and CEO of the “Tecom” Group, Aref Amiri, CEO of the Dubai International Financial Center, and Maha Al Muzaina, General Rapporteur to the commission.
The meeting reviewed developments, digital changes and new global trends, and touched on the development of digital infrastructure in Dubai, Dubai’s readiness and its leadership in Internet usage rates for individuals, and the greater opportunities that this provides that enhance readiness for the future. It is noteworthy that the Supreme Committee for Future Technology and Digital Economy was formed under the chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
