Day 2 at The Masters at Augusta National was a long one due to inclement weather causing a delayed start. Collin Morikawa, Dustin Johnson, and Tommy Fleetwood were among those who only completed 10 holes on the second day. However, lucky ticket holders were able to see Tiger Woods play for about one-and-a-third rounds. Bryson DeChambeau led the pack with a score of -7, followed closely by Scottie Scheffler, who won the 2022 green jacket.

DeChambeau started strong with three consecutive birdies, cooled off for a bit, and then finished with a round-one 66 after birdying five of his next six holes. The leader’s second round was delayed due to the suspension of the first round, potentially giving him longer rest. On the other hand, Tiger Woods faced a short turnaround for his early tee time after barely making the cut and withdrawing in the third round last year. Despite being inside the cut line at -1, Friday presented numerous unknowns for Woods, with negative outcomes likely.

Scottie Scheffler maintained his position as the favorite with the lowest odds to win the tournament. He displayed consistent performance, with seven top-10 finishes in nine events this year. While DeChambeau had an impressive first day, Scheffler’s dominance in the game and history at Augusta made him a top contender for the title. Among the LIV players, Tyrrell Hatton was T6 through 14 holes, while Joaquin Niemann and Patrick Reed finished at -2. However, defending champion Jon Rahm struggled, along with the other LIV members, who were not under par.

Rory McIlroy experienced another slow start at The Masters, carding a one-under 71 with four birdies and three bogeys. Still in pursuit of the career slam, McIlroy missed the cut last year and had mixed performances in previous years. Despite his inconsistent start, McIlroy’s talent and potential to turn things around cannot be discounted. Overall, the second day of play at Augusta National showcased a mix of strong contenders, past champions, and up-and-coming players vying for the coveted green jacket.
