Neighbours have reported children were home at the time of the incident.

The woman’s death is being treated as a homicide and a crime scene has been declared.

Investigators identified a Holden Commodore as a vehicle of interest and tracked it onto the Bruce Hwy about 10.40pm when a chase ensued.

They deployed tyre spikes as the car continued to flee before it crashed into a police van, injuring two officers who were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The Morayfield man, who was the sole occupant of the Commodore, was taken into custody, where he remains on Thursday morning.

A truck driver who witnessed the crash told 7NEWS, “it was just chaos”.

“There were police cars absolutely everywhere, there was smoke and glass everywhere,” he said.

Anyone with information or CCTV or dashcam video of Short St on Wednesday night is asked to contact police.
