Investigators believe that a deadly carjacking, the death of a tow truck driver, and the arrest of a deputy in Florida are all connected to the homicide of Katherine Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvivas, 31, of Homestead. The green Acura used in the carjacking was located, and it was found to have been on the streets illegally for several months with stolen license plates. The tow truck driver who towed the car was shot and killed in a separate incident in Taft, near Orlando, a day before De Aguasvivas was kidnapped and killed. The vehicle used in the murder matched the description of the green Acura and was found to have been fired at with unique 10mm rounds.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office believes that the deadly shooting in Taft on April 10 could be connected to the carjacking in Seminole County. De Aguasvivas’s vehicle, a white Dodge Durango, was found burned with a body inside in Osceola County, though the body has not yet been confirmed to be hers. Despite the lack of identification, investigators believe she was targeted by the suspects who carjacked her. The suspects are still at large, and De Aguasvivas’s husband, while not a person of interest or suspect, is suspected of withholding information from authorities during the investigation.

In a twist in the case, Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputy Francisco Alberto Estrella Chicon, 33, was arrested for allegedly using law enforcement resources to contact a detective investigating De Aguasvivas’s death and providing information to her husband and brother. Chicon, who is married to a childhood friend of De Aguasvivas’s family, used a false name and claimed to be a detective when inquiring about case information. He is facing charges including disclosure of confidential information, unlawful use of communication devices, and unauthorized access to electronic devices.

Sheriff Lemma emphasized the seriousness of the allegations against Chicon, stating that it is unacceptable for a law enforcement officer to misuse their power and authority. Orange County Sheriff John Mina echoed this sentiment, stating that the department holds deputies to the highest ethical standards and will not tolerate any illegal behavior within their ranks. The investigation into De Aguasvivas’s death continues, with authorities working tirelessly to solve the case and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The case involving De Aguasvivas’s homicide, the carjacking, and the death of the tow truck driver has raised concerns about the safety and security of individuals in the area. The fact that the suspects are still at large poses a threat to the community, prompting authorities to urge anyone with information to come forward. The connection between the incidents highlights the complexity of the investigation and the challenges faced by law enforcement in solving such cases.

The developments in the case, including the location of the green Acura, the arrest of Chicon, and the ongoing investigation into De Aguasvivas’s death, point to a tangled web of connections between multiple incidents. The fact that the suspects remain unidentified and at large adds a sense of urgency to the investigation, as authorities work to unravel the circumstances surrounding De Aguasvivas’s tragic death. The collaboration between multiple law enforcement agencies underscores the importance of cooperation in solving complex cases and bringing those responsible to justice.
