“I’m going to roll-in, as we say in the skateboarding world, from two-feet high,” he told co-hosts David Koch and Natalie Barr watching on from the studio before attempting the ‘death-defying” stunt.
Sam then took off, quickly climbing a skateboarding ramp before losing his footing, causing him to temporarily become airborne before landing heavily on the ground.

“Why do you idiots do this? Where is the enjoyment?” he asked the skateboarders rushing to help.
“You know what, even as I was taking off I knew it was going to end like that but I was still surprised when I ended on the ground!”
Kochie and Nat were quick to check their colleague was “ok” before bursting into laughter when Sam reassured that he was not
“He didn’t really bounce did he? It just went smack. Love it,” Kochie said.

The funny crash came just seconds after Sam had been whacked in the legs with a flying skateboard.
The presenter was interviewing a young skateboarder before another crashed behind him, rocketing a board straight into him.
“Ow that really hurt, that really hurt,” Sam winced.
“You’re lucky I have very strong calf muscles from representing Australia at international level schoolboy soccer,” he joked.

Sam then compared to incident the Channel Seven presenter Mike Amor, who in was hit in the head in a similar incident.
The incident California’s iconic Venice Beach was went viral around the world in 2014.
“This reminds me, Mike Amor was hit in the head many years ago and he recovered fine,” he said.
