A teen accused of being in an allegedly stolen car when it crashed on a Queensland highway — causing a pile-up of at least 10 cars — has been released on bail.
Police said the 16-year-old Logan boy was one of five teens in the white 2023 Mazda Cx5 when it crashed into a Mini Cooper on the Gold Coast’s M1 at Pimpama on Thursday afternoon.

A 15-year-old boy was also arrested, but three other teens are on the run.
A woman driving the Mini suffered minor injuries.
The older teen has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He has been granted bail by police ahead of appearing in the Southport Children’s Court at a later date.
The other boy has been accused of stealing, burglary and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He has been denied bail ahead of his appearance in the Children’s Court.
Police allege the Mazda was stolen in Varsity Lakes late on Wednesday.
The crash caused traffic chaos. The highway was closed for an hour during Thursday peak hour to allow for the emergency response.
The highway reopened about 6pm.
