John Wayne Bobbitt, known for having his penis chopped off by his wife in 1993, recently revealed that he has lost all of his toes due to a condition called toxic peripheral polyneuropathy. This condition, which was caused by exposure to contaminated water at Camp Lejeune military training facility, led to nerve damage in his extremities, resulting in the need for amputation of his toes over the years. The most recent toe amputations occurred in 2023, leaving Bobbitt with raw stumps for feet and a limp, requiring him to use special prosthetic shoes.

In addition to losing his toes, Bobbitt also suffers from chronic infections, ulcers, and painful skin grafts as a result of the toxic peripheral polyneuropathy. He believes that his time at Camp Lejeune not only left him with physical scars but also mental ones that may have contributed to his tumultuous relationship with his ex-wife, Lorena. Bobbitt speculates that the chemicals he was exposed to may have distorted his cognitive functioning, leading to poor decision-making.

Lorena Bobbitt, who infamously cut off her then-husband’s penis in 1993, claimed that he raped and beat her, leading her to commit the violent act. After the incident, Bobbitt underwent a nine-hour surgery to reattach his severed penis, which reportedly returned to normal function. Bobbitt went on to launch a career in the porn industry and claimed to have slept with 70 women since the attack. In 2013, he nearly lost a foot after contracting an infection from a dirty nail at a construction site.

Despite the infamous incident, Lorena Bobbitt was found not guilty due to insanity and faced up to 20 years in prison. John Wayne Bobbitt was acquitted on charges of sexual assault in 1993. Both Bobbitts have faced significant life challenges following the incident, with John Wayne Bobbitt dealing with the physical and mental consequences of his amputations and exposure to toxic chemicals. They are among many military members and families who have been exposed to contamination at Camp Lejeune and are now fighting for compensation for the health issues they are experiencing as a result.
