Matildas star Emily van Egmond has announced her engagement in an emotional post on social media.
Van Egmond took to Instagram to reveal the exciting news with a series of beautiful photos by the beach in San Diego, California with her partner Kat Thompson.

The heart-warming post featured a range of photos of the happy couple cuddling, kissing and embracing while overlooking a beautiful ocean view.
“Forever yes. ❤️💍,” van Egmond captioned the post on Instagram.
Matildas teammates, fellow footballers, friends and family all congratulated van Egmond on her engagement.
Matildas captain Sam Kerr showed her love for her teammate when she commented “😍😍😍” on the post.
“She put the ring on it 😍,” fellow Matildas star Caitlin Foord wrote.
“Congrats chick 💍,” Australian netball star Paige Hadley wrote.
“Owwww 🤭🤭🤭 so bloody exciting!! Congrats you two 💕🥂 Jordy is so happy for her aunties,” van Egmond’s sister Laura commented.
“Congrats, Em! 🎉,” the Matildas Instagram account commented.
The Matildas re-posted van Egmond’s Instagram post to their own account, with the caption: “Congratulations, @emilyvanegmond10! 💍 Here’s to the next chapter in your lives. ❤️.”
Van Egmond has become a regular for the Matildas over recent years and is a senior member of the side with 127 caps and 30 goals to her name.
The 29-year-old plays her club football for San Diego Wave FC in the National Women’s Soccer League in the US and with a FIFA Women’s World Cup beginning next month, van Egmond said she wants to keep enjoying her football.
“For me personally, the key is just to enjoy it, and to play with a smile on my face,” she told the media in February.
“Be competitive, come in the best shape possible, and give myself the best possible chance to be selected for the World Cup.”
