Machete-wielding bandit raids Queensland bottle shop

A manhunt is underway to find two men involved in an armed robbery of a Queensland bottle shop

Police said two men entered the Riverside Boulevard bottle shop in Douglas, Townsville, at about 7.10pm on Friday.

One of them produced a machete and demanded money from a female employee, who police said complied with the requests.

“The pair fled the scene on foot, joining a larger group waiting nearby,” a police spokesperson said.

The suspects have been described as First Nations males, about 165cm tall with slim builds.

“One was wearing a dark-coloured T-shirt with coloured ‘DragonballZ’ lettering across the chest, along with a navy wide-brim hat, blue surgical mask and black gloves,” a police spokesperson said.

“The other male was wearing white coloured tracksuit pants.”
