One lucky Australian could be $40 million richer if they win Thursday night’s Powerball.

The winning numbers for Draw 1384 will be announced at 8.30pm AEST.

Click here later on tonight to find out the winning dividends.

Players entering in draw 1394 have a one in 134,490,400 chance of correctly picking the seven winning numbers along with the all-important Powerball number, new analysis from The Lott reveals.

Entries for the draw close at 7.25pm on Thursday, and the winning numbers are drawn an hour later.

Powerball has a rolling jackpot, which means Thursday’s prize has accumulated over weeks as no division one winners emerged.

Patterns based on winning data have revealed everything from the average age, gender, and first name initials of the most common jackpot winners, as well as the luckiest numbers – 17, 7, 9, 2, 25, 3, 14.

Yet, the game of chance can go to anyone lucky enough to beat the odds.

What are the chances?

Those scraping in close behind the jackpot with a division two win, which is all seven main winning numbers, will need to beat one in 7,078,443.

Even though one in a million, or one in hundreds of millions, seems virtually impossible, prizes for the winners of division three and higher won’t require quite as much luck.

For a division three win, which is six main winning numbers and the Powerball number, players will have a one in 686,176 chance of winning.

For a division four win, which is six main winning numbers, players will have a one in 36,115 chance of winning.

For a division five win, which is five main winning numbers and the Powerball number, players will have a one in 16,943 chance of winning.

For a division six win, which is four main winning numbers and the Powerball number, players will have a one in 1173 chance of winning.

For a division seven win, which is five main winning numbers, players will have a one in 892 chance of winning.

For a division eight win, which is three main winning numbers and the Powerball number, players will have a one in 188 chance of winning.

For a division nine win, which is two main winning numbers and the Powerball number, players will have a one in 66 chance of winning.

Who those winners will be on Thursday is up to fate. The last $40 million Powerball winner for draw 1373 in September 2022 was a South Australian woman with a single entry.

She won with the number 15, 21, 23, 13, 30, 25, and 31, and the Powerball number 10.
