A Canadian couple in their 30s purchased a retired school bus and transformed it into a fully functional home on wheels to live out their dream of travelling the world. The couple, Tanya Nestoruk and Arya Touserkani, documented their journey on Instagram under the username @the.queen.beep, sharing a 30-second tour of their incredible new mobile dwelling. The bus now features a sleeping area, a bathroom, a kitchen with a full stove and oven set, and even a terrace on the roof. After finding the perfect bus on Facebook Marketplace, the couple embarked on a DIY project that took them six months to complete.

The couple began the process by gutting the interior of the old school bus, removing all the old seats and fixtures to make way for their new layout. They sold, donated, or reused items to minimize waste and found unexpected treasures like toys and change hidden between the seats. Insulation, framing, plumbing, and electrical work followed, ensuring the tiny home was cozy, structurally sound, and capable of off-grid living with solar panels. The next step was the interior design phase, where they maximized space while maintaining functionality and style by crafting custom furniture, building storage solutions, and adding personal touches.

Despite facing setbacks and unforeseen challenges along the way, the couple remained dedicated to their vision, embracing each obstacle as an opportunity to learn and grow. The cost of the school bus was around $7,200, but with renovations and new furniture, the total came to over $40,000. However, this cost is significantly lower than the average cost of building a traditional house in the United States. The couple enlisted the help of friends for tasks like washing and sanding the bus before painting, installing insulation, and building rooftop features.

After months of hard work, dedication, and the help of friends and professionals, Nestoruk and Touserkani completed their dream home on wheels and set off on their travel adventures. They have driven the bus from British Columbia to Baja California in Mexico and back, and are currently enjoying another “tiny home adventure.” Despite the challenges they faced during the build, the couple is grateful for the experience and the opportunity to continue their travel lifestyle in the future. The video of their bus transformation has gone viral on Instagram, garnering hundreds of thousands of views and positive comments, inspiring others to consider alternative living arrangements and embrace a life of adventure.
