Instead, Brenton chose Sophie Holcombe as the one he could see him spending his life with.
A week after the reunion episode aired, Rachel – along with the other contestants – regained control of her social media account.
Taking to Instagram, the TV star shared a series of photos from her time filming.
“My Farmer Wants a Wife journey was nothing short of amazing!” she began on Monday night.
“What a crazy emotional rollercoaster of self growth, friendships and many lessons learnt, I am beyond grateful for this experience and stepping outside of my comfort zone and trying new and exciting things I’ve learnt to love.”
She admitted that “heartbreak is tough” – especially when it takes place on national TV.
“Time heals all and I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the experience,” she went on.
“I am so thankful for some of the best friends and memories made that will last a lifetime!
“Also, thank you to our little onset farmer crew for being there for me right till the very end and making me laugh always you guys are amazing! 🌾🐑.”
She ended the post with the hashtags “chapter closed” and “Farmer AU”.
Fans and friends of Rachel’s took to the comments to share their support.
Among the commenters was Brenton’s chosen love, Sophie, who wrote: “Couldn’t have asked for a better person to be by my side from start to end. I love you so much Rach 💕.”
Farmer Brenton also reached out publicly to Rachel with a heartfelt declaration, writing, “You’re the best Rach! 🌟”.
Rachel’s twin sister Chelsea – who was on the show for Farmer Matt – wrote, “Proud of you sis❤️🌾”.
“Carried yourself so well! All my love to you beautiful girls,” a comment said.
“You and your sister are the two most beautiful girls inside and out I’ve watched in all the Farmer seasons. Very special girls,” one user wrote.
“You are such a sweetheart Rachel. Best of Luck for your future. Hope Mr Right is on his way for you,” added another.
Following the reunion episode on May 22, it was revealed that Sophie had reached out to Rachel after the show.
“I have spoken to Rachel very often and she is a beautiful person and we have such a good relationship,” she told 7Life.
“I think there was a mutual respect that we held for each other throughout the experience and when it’s finished, she’s been really supportive.
“And you know, I wish her all the best. She deserves a really great guy and she’s holding out really well.”’
As Rachel made her update on social media, so too did Brenton and Sophie.
“Hey guys, it’s Brenton here, I’ve just got social media back and I just want to jump on and thank everyone for the support over the past few months,” the farmer said in an Instagram update.
“It was the best experience I could ever think of.
“It was 100 times better than I thought it could be going into it.
“I’m so glad I got to meet Soph; now we can settle into our life and go out in public.”
Brenton added that he felt “so lucky” to have met the other farmers, Brad, David, Andrew and Matt.
“Couldn’t have thought of a better bunch to do it with,” he said.
“Before I go, I just want to thank Sam (Armytage) for being so genuine and the best host you could ever think of.”
“Thanks Brenton …what lovely words,” Sam wrote back.
“It was fantastic to meet you & I wish you & Soph many happy years ahead.
“Catch up soon. Sam x.”
Not long after Brenton’s post appeared, Sophie wrote her own message on Instagram, sharing snaps of her time filming the show, meeting the other girls and falling in love with Brenton.
“I always loved watching @farmeraustralia but I never thought that one day I’d be on it,” she wrote.
“Meeting Brenton and going through this experience has been one of the best things I’ve done.
“It was a fun and emotional adventure, both at the time and then watching back on.
“I was lucky to be joined by some strong and beautiful women who put their heart on the line and supported me as I did the same.
“To hold respect for each other in such strange circumstances shows how special they all are!”
