An elderly man is recovering in hospital after suffering gruesome injuries in a chainsaw accident in the Southern Downs.
It’s believed the man, aged in his 70s, was using the chainsaw on a private rural property in Allora when the accident occurred, causing serious abdominal trauma.
The man was transported to Toowoomba Hospital by the Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter in a serious but stable condition.

The rescue chopper was called to the property just before 9.30am on Thursday, where the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight paramedic then worked alongside local QAS paramedics to treat the man.
QAS confirmed that the man suffered significant abdominal injuries and was transported in a serious condition to hospital.
He is currently in a stable condition at Toowoomba Hospital, Darling Downs Health has confirmed.
