Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana of Greece have announced their decision to end their marriage after 13 years together. The couple shared the news on April 19, 2024, stating that despite their deep appreciation and respect for each other, they have decided to dissolve their marriage. They plan to continue living and being active in Greece, the place they both consider home. The statement emphasized that their relationship will be based on values of respect and understanding, forming a foundation of deep and sincere friendship as they move forward.

The announcement came just weeks after Prince Nikolaos, 54, and Princess Tatiana, 43, were seen together at a thanksgiving service for King Constantine, Nikolaos’ father and the last king of Greece. The service took place at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on Feb. 27, 2024, where members of the Greek and British royal families gathered. Prince William, who was expected to attend, abruptly dropped out due to his godfather’s recent passing, as he needed to support his wife, Kate Middleton, who had been diagnosed with cancer.

Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana got married in August 2010 at the Cathedral of Ayios Nikolaos on the island of Spetses in Greece. The bride wore the Antique Corsage Tiara, borrowed from Queen Anne-Marie. The royal wedding was attended by various members of other royal families, including Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden, King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain, and King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands. The couple’s nuptials were a grand event that brought together royalty from across Europe to celebrate their union.

Moving forward, Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana express gratitude for the support of their families during this challenging time. They have asked for respect and discretion as they navigate this transition in their lives. Despite their decision to end their marriage, both parties are committed to maintaining a relationship rooted in mutual respect and understanding. They plan to continue their involvement in Greece, contributing to the community and continuing their royal duties as they adapt to their new reality.

The divorce announcement comes after a recent joint outing with members of the British royal family in Germany on June 20, 2016. The couple’s decision to end their marriage after more than a decade together marks a significant change in their lives, but they have expressed a commitment to honoring the values that have guided their relationship thus far. Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana will continue to have the support of their families and loved ones as they navigate this new chapter in their lives and establish a foundation of friendship and respect in their future interactions.
