The Construction Forestry Maritime Mining Energy Union said workers across Perth had paid tribute to their fallen colleague.

“It’s with extreme sadness that we acknowledge the loss of another construction worker this morning. A brother of the hook working on a site in Applecross,” the union said.

“Our organisers will be visiting jobs around the city today to meet with as many crews as we can and encourage everyone to take pause and think about their own safety and the safety of others.

“Cranes across the city rightly stand hooks up and still today in recognition and respect for one of our own.

“Our most heartfelt condolences to friends, workmates, and most of all to the family.”
