A Coles supermarket shopper has revealed her very unlikely cleaning hack for fixing a very common problem in bathrooms all around Australia.
Sharing on a popular Facebook group, the home owner said she used a bottle of Coles brand tomato sauce – which retails for just $1.65 – to remove the black scum and crusty build-up around the base of the taps in her sink.
The cleaning technique has gained popularity in recent months, with fans revealing how the popular condiment works wonders on the hard-to-clean area.

Posting before and after photos of her transformed taps, the mum said she received maximum results with almost no effort.
“Shut the front door, team!” she wrote on the Cleaning & Organising Inspiration Australia page.
“I moved into a house that didn’t have the level of love I would like it too and I’ve been ignoring these taps as they will be removed in a renovation.
“But I thought if the tomato sauce trick was going to work, this would be it – so i tried it! And it worked!
“Can I quietly add that I put the sauce on, made myself a margarita , watched a movie (self-care day) went to the bathroom and scared the out **** of myself and then realised it was tomato sauce!”
All you have to do is put a generous amount of the sauce around the taps and leave it to work its magic.
After a few hours, give the area a gentle wipe before rinsing away the sauce and scum.
You’re then left with a sparkling clean sink area that looks brand new.
It’s believed the acid in tomato sauce is what breaks down the stubborn build-up, leaving it crystal clean.
Many Facebook users were blown away by the “unbelievable” results.
“Get out of here!” responded one.
Said another: “Wow, never knew it was good for this sort of stuff!”
Wrote a third: “OMG! As someone who just did bathrooms today and this bothers me and never gets clean. I need to try tomorrow.”
Added one more: “That actually works!”
Another said: “Off to do some cleaning!”
