Bunnings worker’s carpark act sparks flood of love

A Bunnings employee has attracted widespread applause after his sweet interaction with an elderly customer went viral.

Sharing on Facebook, an onlooker posted a photo which showed Bunnings worker Tupou Ioane’s heartwarming gesture.

In the snap, Tupou – from Rothwell Bunnings in Queensland’s Moreton Bay region – can be seen guiding the elderly woman across the carpark while having a “lovely conversation”.

In her post, the onlooker congratulation the Bunnings worker for his kindness.

“I wanted to share a photo that makes my heart sing,” she wrote on Facebook.

“A worker from Bunnings at Rothwell accompanying an older lady to her car. They were having a lovely conversation and he didn’t seem to mind that it took her a bit longer.”

She added: “Well done to this young man for his kindness and compassion, he should be very proud of the person that he is.

“I would also like to say to Bunnings Warehouse Australia that this staff member’s a superstar and should be acknowledged because his humanity and kindness also reflects well on Bunnings.”

Since being posted, the image has gone viral – with thousands praising the man for his sweet gesture.

“Well done, what a caring young man. I hope you have a lot of happiness in your life. You deserve only the best,” said one.

Another added: “And that’s what it’s all about, helping elderly people in the community. It all makes a difference to them and they appreciate it very much.”

A third added: “It’s great to see employees going out of their way to help their customers. Bunnings is one company where this is not a rarity. Well done to the employee, it warms the heart to see this happening nowadays.”

One more said: “Bless! I went to Bunnings for the first time this week after my stroke. I have a walker. Staff members were lovely.”

Bunnings Rothwell Complex Manager Lesleigh Lepomme has spoken of Tupou’s kindness in a statement to 7NEWS.com.au.

“Providing customers with a great experience when shopping in our stores is something we work really hard at,” she said.

“Tupou is a really valued member of our team who often goes out of his way to make a customer’s day, and we were pleased to see his kind act recognised.

“Pleasingly, I know we get hundreds of pieces of incredible feedback about our amazing team across our stores every day.”
