Varona is Adele’s on-tour photographer and the pair are close friends.
Despite her mother’s death, Varona photographed Adele’s second weekend of shows, with the singer pausing mid-concert to pay tribute to her friend.
Dedicating the song Make You Feel My Love to Varona, an emotional Adele said: “I would really appreciate it if you could all put on your torches on your phone and shine them like stars so I know her mum can see us.”
Later taking to Instagram, Varona described the emotion-packed moment.
“One of the last things I go to do with my mum on the Sunday before she passed was to show her the photos from weekend one,” she wrote.
“I was so excited to show them to her and was hopeful I’d be able to bring her to one of the shows.
“Thank you Adele and everyone at the show for honouring my mum.”
Varona said she felt her mum’s presence at the concert “the whole time.”
“She was and will continue to be my driving force, so going to work felt honourable to her,” she wrote, adding: “I love you A x.”
Varona’s followers praised Adele for her kind gesture during the recent concert – and the photographer’s commitment to her job.
“That was sooo sweet of her,” one person wrote, referring to Adele’s recognition of her friend’s loss.
“You’re amazing for continuing to show up to work even when it’s completely understandable why you wouldn’t,” wrote another.
“There’s no doubt your mum is so, so proud of you!
“She raised a strong queen.”
A source told The Sun that Adele had made sure she was there for her friend, despite feeling the pressure in the lead-up to her delayed Las Vegas shows.
“For the past 12 months Adele’s focus has been on these Vegas shows but despite being under serious pressure herself, when Raven lost her mum she rushed to offer support,” the source said.
“Family is a massive thing for Adele and she was keen to make it clear that she could take all the time she needed away before returning to work.
“The passing has hit them both hard.”
Adele recently admitted she was incredibly nervous before her first Las Vegas gig.
“I’m feeling all sorts as I write this,” the 34-year-old hitmaker wrote on November 18.
“I’m highly emotional, incredibly nervous but can’t sit still because I’m so excited.
“I feel a million miles away from home, I can’t stop thinking about when I was little and saw Tom Jones in Mars Attacks and thought blimey how did he get from Wales to Las Vegas!?
“I always get scared before shows, and I take it as a good sign because it means I care and means I just want to do a good job.”
