Tai Woffinden, a three-time Speedway World Champion, expressed his desire to see a Speedway meeting take place at Old Trafford, calling it “incredible.” While discussing his favourite tracks, he mentioned that Manchester United’s home ground would be his dream venue to race, comparing the atmosphere in Warsaw and Cardiff. Although there are currently no plans for Speedway at Old Trafford, the 2024 Speedway of Nations will be held in Manchester at the National Speedway Stadium, with Woffinden representing Great Britain alongside Dan Bewley and Robert Lambert. Woffinden is aiming for another gold medal and believes they can repeat their success from 2021.

As Britain’s most successful rider, Woffinden holds world titles in 2013, 2015, and 2018 and is looking to claim his first championship in six years. Despite being plagued by injuries, including a major crash in Cardiff last season and missing the final two meetings of the campaign, Woffinden is confident in his ability to fully compete this year. He has focused on rehab and strengthening, particularly in his left shoulder which he had neglected after a previous injury. After facing challenges in settling down due to house sales and moving between continents, Woffinden feels prepared and excited for the upcoming 2024 season.

The 2024 Speedway Grand Prix, where Woffinden will compete, will be available to watch live and ad-free on discovery+. While Woffinden acknowledges his injuries over the years and the challenges he has faced, he remains optimistic about his chances in the upcoming season. With a more settled and focused approach this year, Woffinden believes he is in a better position to compete at a high level and challenge for the championship. He credits his dedication to rehab and strength training, as well as his improved preparation compared to previous years, which has allowed him to feel more confident and ready for the season ahead.

With his eyes set on reclaiming the championship title after a six-year hiatus, Woffinden is determined to prove himself on the Speedway circuit once again. Having faced setbacks and obstacles in recent years, Woffinden’s commitment to his training and preparation has been a key factor in his confidence going into the 2024 season. As part of the British team for the upcoming Speedway of Nations in Manchester, Woffinden is focused on achieving success and hopes to replicate the winning performance of 2021 at the same venue. Despite the challenges that await him, Woffinden remains steadfast in his belief in his abilities and his chances of achieving victory in the upcoming Grand Prix events.
