15,366 new companies join the Dubai Chamber of Commerce in the first quarter

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce, one of the three chambers operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers, revealed a set of achievements it achieved during the first quarter of 2023, in implementation of its strategic priorities aimed at supporting Dubai’s development and economic process, and enhancing the competitiveness of the emirate and its private sector in order to achieve its D33 economic agenda. As the number of new companies that joined the membership of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, one of the three chambers operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers, reached 15,366 companies during the first quarter of 2023, with a record growth rate of 48.7% compared to the same period in 2022, which reflects the emirate’s increasing ability to attract investments, and enhance the competitiveness of its business environment.

The exports and re-exports of members of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce grew by about 17.3% in the first quarter of this year, amounting to 71.7 billion dirhams, compared to 61.1 billion dirhams during the same period last year, which reflects the efforts of the Chamber to support the trade of its members in the markets. The Chamber issued 182,266 certificates of origin during the first quarter of this year, with an annual growth rate of about 2% compared to the same period last year, while the Chamber issued and received 1,527 temporary entry books for goods and commodities worth 1.1 billion dirhams during the first quarter of 2023.

His Excellency Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Chambers, said: “Dubai Chambers focus on achieving the strategic priorities set by the chambers’ strategy for the period 2022-2024, as keeping pace with the future and its industry requires concerted efforts and unification of visions in order to achieve the goals of the next stage.”

Al Ghurair stressed full commitment to achieving strategic priorities, which include improving and developing a stimulating business environment, attracting foreign investments, promoting external expansion of Chamber members in addition to developing the digital economy, enhancing the efficiency of the legislative and regulatory system in addition to sustaining excellence in institutional work and customer service, stressing the importance of enhancing Competitiveness of the Emirate’s economy in line with the vision of the wise leadership.

During the first quarter of the year 2023, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce succeeded in achieving the goals of its plan to establish more than 100 business groups representing various sectors and economic activities in the emirate in order to enhance the contribution of the private sector in drawing up and drafting policies and legislation related to the business environment, as the number of current business groups reached 105 business groups. , which shows a high level of representation of the private sector, and reflects the high flexibility enjoyed by the emirate’s economy, and the important role played by the private sector in supporting the process of sustainable growth.

The number of laws and draft laws reviewed by the Chamber during the first quarter of this year amounted to more than 32 legislation, as part of its efforts to support the interests of the business community, while the number of mediation cases received by the Chamber reached 18 mediation cases.

During the first quarter of this year, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce launched the “Business Sectors Platform”, which is an innovative package of qualitative services designed specifically to empower business groups and councils, meet their needs, support their activities, and enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of their business.

Mohammed Ali Rashid Lootah, Director General of Dubai Chambers, said: “The chambers are keen to support the private sector and enhance its competitiveness in order to achieve the vision of the wise leadership and its recommendations to strengthen partnership between the public and private sectors.”

Lootah pointed out that the current year will witness the launch of more new initiatives that will achieve a qualitative addition to the business community in Dubai in line with the strategic priorities of the chambers.
