As a Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipient, you will be receiving two SSI payments in May. This is due to the payment schedule set by the Social Security Administration. Typically, SSI checks are disbursed on the first of each month, but there are exceptions to this schedule. If the first of the month falls on a holiday or a weekend, the payments may be adjusted accordingly. In this case, since June 1 falls on a Saturday, the June payments are being sent out a day early, on Friday, May 31. This means that you will not receive an additional payment in June.

If you are new to receiving benefits or planning to apply for SSI, it is important to know the dates you can expect to receive your money for the rest of 2024. The payment dates for the remaining months of the year are as follows: Monday, July 1, Thursday, Aug. 1 and Friday, Aug. 30 (for September), Tuesday, Oct. 1, Friday, Nov. 1, and Friday, Nov. 29 (for December). It is also important to note that if you receive other Social Security benefits, those payments will be received on their regularly scheduled days, which typically fall on Wednesdays.

For recipients of other Social Security benefits, the payment schedule varies depending on your specific circumstances. For example, Social Security payments for those who have been receiving benefits since before May 1997 will be issued on May 3. Social Security payments for those with birthdays falling between the first and 10th of any given month will be issued on May 8. Similarly, Social Security payments for individuals with birthdays between the 11th and 20th, and the 21st and 31st of any given month will be issued on May 15 and May 22, respectively.

If you receive other Social Security benefits, it is important to be aware of the different payment schedules that apply to your specific situation. Additionally, knowing how to apply for your state’s Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program and for Social Security benefits for your child can be beneficial. By understanding the payment dates and procedures for receiving SSI and other Social Security benefits, recipients can better plan and manage their finances. It is important to stay informed and up-to-date on any changes or adjustments to the payment schedule to ensure timely receipt of benefits.
