Authorities in central Florida believe they have found the body of Katherine Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvivas, a woman who was carjacked at gunpoint in Seminole County. The incident was caught on camera, showing a gunman forcing his way into De Aguasvivas’ vehicle at a red light. The suspect, wearing a black hoodie and ski mask, was armed with what appeared to be an automatic handgun. Cellphone footage captured by a witness showed the suspect pointing the weapon at De Aguasvivas’ car before getting into the back seat.

After the carjacking, De Aguasvivas made a U-turn and the Acura behind her followed. Authorities suspect that the suspect ordered her to turn around again and re-approach the intersection. De Aguasvivas then drove towards a new construction area where the suspects were believed to be familiar with. Approximately an hour and 45 minutes later, deputies were called to the area for a report of a vehicle on fire. Authorities could not positively identify the vehicle due to the extensive damage, but they found a body inside believed to be De Aguasvivas. DNA and dental records will be used to confirm the victim’s identity.

Authorities found twelve shell casings at the scene, indicating that shots were fired during the incident. Sheriff Dennis Lemma stated that the carjacking was not random, as the suspects appeared to know exactly who they were following. De Aguasvivas had called her husband before the incident to report being followed, but neither of them called 911. Lemma expressed confusion over why they did not call for help or why De Aguasvivas stopped at the red light. Investigators are still working to determine a motive for the crime.

De Aguasvivas had traveled from Homestead in Miami-Dade County to central Florida to visit family. She briefly stopped at a Shell gas station before continuing her drive. Authorities have not been able to locate any relatives living in the area, as her husband did not provide their names. De Aguasvivas and her husband are associated with a barber shop and beauty salon business and do not have a criminal history in the United States. Sheriff Lemma stated that there is no clear indicator as to why someone would target them in this tragic incident.

The investigation into the carjacking and murder of De Aguasvivas is ongoing, with authorities working to piece together the events leading up to her death. The suspects remain at large, and law enforcement is urging anyone with information to come forward. The community has been shaken by this violent crime, and residents are urged to remain vigilant in the area. The motive for the carjacking remains unclear, leaving investigators and the public searching for answers in this tragic and senseless act.
