O.J. Simpson’s last days were spent relaxing at his country club home, drinking beer, and watching TV with his lawyer before passing away due to prostate cancer at the age of 76. His family released a statement saying he succumbed to his battle with cancer, but only one close family member was present at the time of his death. Simpson’s adult children from his first marriage are now dealing with the loss of their father, who was one of the most famous and controversial figures in the world.

Simpson’s lawyer, Malcom LaVergne, revealed details of his final days, sharing that Simpson expressed his wishes to be cremated and wanted a private funeral. The attorney listed Simpson’s four children as the beneficiaries of his estate, but the exact value of his assets is still being determined. Simpson famously faced a criminal trial in 1994 for the murders of his ex-wife and her friend, and was acquitted. However, he was found liable for the deaths in a civil court proceeding in 1997.

After his release from prison in 2017, Simpson led a golf-and-country club lifestyle in Las Vegas. He was known for sharing updates about sports and golf on social media, and his last post predicted the outcome of the Super Bowl LVIII, which turned out to be incorrect. Simpson had not paid the majority of the $33.5 million judgment owed to the families of his ex-wife and her friend from the civil liability case, which has now accrued to over $200 million. LaVergne initially stated that the families would not receive any of Simpson’s assets, but later suggested that they may receive some.

LaVergne emphasized the challenges faced by Simpson’s adult children in mourning their father, especially given his fame and controversial legacy. The family requested privacy during this difficult time and asked for grace from the public. The attorney indicated that any decision regarding a public memorial or ceremony would be made by Simpson’s family. While there were tentative discussions about holding a celebration of life, no concrete plans had been made yet. The attorney declined to speculate on the total value of Simpson’s estate, but confirmed that his children are the sole beneficiaries.
