Former Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg was sentenced to five months in jail on perjury charges after admitting to testifying falsely during Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial. He was charged with five counts of perjury but agreed to plead guilty to two felony counts related to testimony he gave during a 2020 deposition with the attorney general’s office. Weisselberg also admitted to testifying falsely at the civil fraud trial last fall, although that was not among the charges to which he pleaded guilty. Prosecutors recommended a five-month jail sentence as part of the plea deal.

Weisselberg had falsely testified about his knowledge of the size of Trump’s apartment triplex and how the value of the apartment was inflated on Trump’s financial statements for years due to incorrect square footage. Despite the plea deal, Weisselberg did not plead guilty to perjury at Trump’s civil fraud trial over the triplex, and both parties agreed that he would not be sentenced for that conduct. This could potentially be considered a violation of his parole in connection to his 2022 guilty plea for tax fraud.

This is the second guilty plea by Weisselberg, who had previously pleaded guilty to 15 counts of tax fraud in 2022. He also testified in the trial of two Trump Organization entities and served approximately four months in prison. The story is still developing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Weisselberg’s legal troubles highlight the ongoing legal challenges facing members of the Trump Organization and the potential consequences for those involved in illegal or unethical activities. The case against Weisselberg serves as a reminder of the importance of facing consequences for perjury and other criminal actions in a court of law.
