Place 3 tablespoons (23 g) of flour or starch in a small bowl and mix in just enough room-temperature water so that the mixture is runny enough to pour. Stir the mixture into the boiling water and keep stirring constantly until the paste is thick and smooth. This usually takes around 2 to 10 minutes. If the mixture is too thick, add a little more water. If it’s not sticky enough, mix in a few spoonfuls of sugar or white glue. Let the wheat paste cool to room temperature, then transfer it to an airtight container and store it in the fridge until you’re ready to use it.
